Making a Difference in Israel
Our Congregation has the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of soldiers serving in the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF).
The commando squads (Tzevet) of the elite units are often "adopted" by civilians who take care of needs that exceed the budgetary constraints of the IDF.
One of these Tzevets is in need of special combat boots, headlamps and thermal underclothing to get these dedicated soldiers through the winter.
The cost of these items for the entire Tzevet is $5,000. It is our hope that we, at B'nai Tikvah, can pool our resources through tax-deductible contributions to assist these young men in their service on behalf of the State of Israel and the larger Jewish community. Checks should be made payable to Congregation B'nai Tikvah with the Memo "One Israel Fund"; We will keep the congregation informed as to our progress in reaching this goal. We hope to receive photos and updates from the men in the unit; and please let us know if you are planning a trip to Israel, where you might be able to meet the men in the Tzevet in person! We thank you in advance for your generosity. |
