"Killing Kasztner: The Jew Who Dealt with Nazis." Screening of the film with Special guest appearance by Gaylen Ross, director. Known as the Jewish Schindler, Rezso Kasztner saved at least 1,700 Jews through his negotiations with Adolf Eichmann. Denounced as a traitor in Israel, his adopted homeland, he was assassinated by Jewish extremists in 1957. The movie skillfully interweaves archival material and penetrating interviews with both Kasztner's family and his assassin, and raises poignant moral and political issues. Location: Meet in the lobby of The Regal Cinema Commerce Center, 2399 US 1 South, North Brunswick, at 7:20 pm. If there is an interest, we will drive to Starbucks in the Barnes and Noble on US 1 South for coffee and discussion after the movie.

"HOW DO WE COMMUNICATE WITH OUR PARENTS, THE SURVIVORS?" (members only) To encourage interaction between the survivors and the second generation, a movie will be shown, "Breaking the Silence" that captures the moving dialogue between the 2-Gers and their survivor parents as the children of the survivors push back against their parents' resistance to remember and as the parents come to realize the importance of passing down the story of freedom and in many cases redemption to the sons and daughters that represent so very much as the generation of the future.

Tuvia Bielsky's son, Robert, talks about his father's and uncle's experiences when they saved more than 1,200 Jews in the forests of what is now Belarus and whose heroics became the subject of the 2008 movie "Defiance". This event, sponsored by the sisterhood, is open to the 2-G group and their survivor parents and children.

Yom Hashoah Name Recitation Program. Participation of our 2-G group in this moving B'nai Tikvah tradition of reading the names of our family members who were murdered during the Holocaust. To share the stories of our grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins, through pictures and words, we memorialize our loved ones, the value of their lives, and in so doing, we sanctify the value of each one of the 6 million Jews in Eastern Europe, who lived, laughed, worked, created beauty and loved.

Closed Meeting to review individual approaches for going into public schools. Several of our 2-Gers want to pick up where their parents left off and share their insights on the Holocaust and their loved one's stories with the youth in our public schools that represent our future. This work will continue in subsequent meetings that will be open to the community.
